If any of you have been to Cambridge, you will know there are so many things to do that you could spend a week there and still probably not get to see everything you want to.
With there being so much to see and do, it is a good idea to use a Cambridge taxi to get you to and from places in a quick manner.
But what about if you fancy doing something a bit more quirky to get around the beautiful city of Cambridge?
There are a number of ways to this without climbing into a Cambridge taxi, including the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway, but the one we are going to focus on is the use of a boat to assist your journey.
In Cambridge, we have many companies that will take you along the River Cam and around the city.
Scudamore’s Punting Company
These are the oldest and most well-known punting company in the city. Since they were founded in 1910, they have been hiring out to residents and visitors; if you fancy a go at punting yourself then you can hire one for as little as an hour through to the entire day.
Let’s Go Punting
These guys do chauffeured punting tours, which last approximately 50 minutes. These go along the entirety of The Backs, and you will be given lots of interesting facts and information on the colleges, alumnis and the history of Cambridge, by your chauffeur.
Cambridge Chauffeur Punts
Since being founded in 1993, Cambridge Chauffeur Punts have built up an established fleet range of punts, some of which are double punts, which are designed for larger groups of up to 100 people. The double punts are ideal if you have a school that needs an idea for a school trip or an educational visit.
You can either have a go at punting yourself, or be chauffeured around the River Cam, and these also go past The Backs, which takes in the Kings College, the Bridge of Sighs and New Court St Johns.
To us, they sound absolutely fantastic (as long as it isn’t raining!).
But which ever way you choose to get around the wonderful city of Cambridge – whether it is by bus, boat, a Cambridge taxi or even by walking – you will not be disappointed by the sights you get to see; it really is magical.
